Writing is rewriting, or so the saying goes. But it gets hard. We lose our distance from the material. We lose sight of how scenes play, or what the reader knows, or what was even interesting about the idea to begin with. “Screenwriting is like building a machine out of hundreds of little pieces,” a teacher once told me, “Only you don’t know how the pieces fit together, if they’re the right pieces, or what the machine is even supposed to do in the end.”

That’s where a good script consultant comes in.

Someone with years of industry experience, who knows the craft inside and out, and who knows how to work with writers. Someone to help you find the best version of the story *you* want to tell. To inspire you. Someone like me.

Whether you’re looking to develop an idea into an outline, are deep in the woods somewhere between draft two and draft ten, or are looking for final feedback before submitting to a competition, my mission is to give you thorough and constructive feedback, covering everything from concept to structure to characters, to theme, dialogue, originality, industry formatting, and more.

Choose what package is best for you and your project on the Services page, then click on Get Started. Notes typically take 5-10 business days from the day I receive your script.

As a writer myself, I know what it’s like to be in those woods with a script, and I also know how good a good notes session feels. Eyes open to new possibilities. New purpose. New energy. New tools and understanding. My goal with each and every project is to get you there. To get you prepared and excited to begin the process of (re)writing.

Recommended for more experienced writers who are looking for informed and constructive feedback from an industry professional. Does not include a marked up version of the submission.

Extensive Notes

8-15 pages of comprehensive, in-depth notes on story, character, dialogue, structure, plot, tone, theme, formatting, clarity, voice, and more, with suggestions and solutions for improvement. Recommended for beginners and those who are still learning the craft, but also great for anyone who really wants to dig in. Comes with an annotated script that has been proofread for grammar, spelling, formatting, and smaller, more detailed notes in the margins. These are development level notes such as you might get from a producer or manager.

Teleconference

Have questions about the notes? Want to brainstorm solutions, or discuss an idea that’s just forming? In my experience, a two-way discussion is the best way to problem solve or get inspired. I am available to Skype, Facetime, Zoom, or probably any method under the sun. If you buy a session and decide you don’t need it, the price can be refunded or carried forward to another project.

30 Min Session -- $50

60 Min Session -- $100

90 Min Session -- $150

120 Min Session -- $200

Extras

Script Markup

Highlights any spelling, grammar, and formatting issues, and, more importantly, provides opportunity for very specific, detailed comments in the margins. This might mean positive comments as well! Learning which lines of dialogue made me laugh out loud can be just as important as the big picture insights. The markup is included with Extensive Notes, but a good addition to Brief Notes. $50

Summary

Reading your story in someone else’s words can give you whole new insight into what’s there (or isn’t). What did the reader understand, and how was the story interpreted? What connections will a mind fresh to the material make? All summaries are written so they can be adapted for marketing materials and for submissions. 1-2 pages. $50

Expedited Service

Need the feedback fast? No problem. Notes can be turned around within 1-2 business days of full payment and script submission. Unfortunately, the fast service can only be applied to one script, even if multiple scripts are submitted. $75
