About Me
Some of my earliest and strongest childhood memories are of movies. I am three years old, just uprooted by my parents and transplanted to Paris, France, and I am in a movie theater to see THE CARE BEARS MOVIE (1985). A few years later, I am in a drive-in theater in Harare, Zimbabwe, uprooted yet again, surrounded by a new language and new customs, falling asleep in the backseat of my parents’ car just as Batman crashes through the glass ceiling to catch the Joker. Years later, in New York City, I learned American English by watching BACK TO THE FUTURE (1985) and AMADEUS (1984) and BUTCH CASSIDY AND THE SUNDANCE KID (1969) on endless loops. First date? BED OF ROSES (1996). Writer/director Michael Goldenberg laughed when I told him that, years later, after I became his writer’s assistant on HARRY POTTER AND THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX (2007).
Movies have always been with me, a familiar pattern in the background of my life. After many years as an assistant for award-winning writers and producers, a script coordinator at DreamWorks Animation, and as a freelance reader for various coverage services, movies have become my passion and my career.
I received my M.A. in Screenwriting from the American Film Institute Conservatory in 2013. The following year, my thesis film, WAY IN RYE, was shortlisted for the Student Film Academy Award, and another, CONTRAPELO, for the Short Film Academy Award.
Since then, I have been writing and developing from my treehouse in Hollywood, building my consultancy business, and getting involved in my community. Movies are still with me, shaping my sense of the world, as much as the world shapes my sense of movies. Currently on loop: EVERYTHING, EVERYWHERE, ALL AT ONCE (2022).
